For vegans, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: World Vegan Day is on the 1st November and has been celebrating the founding of the Vegan Society since 1994. It’s a great opportunity to spread the word about the vegan lifestyle and it’s fantastic to see so many Edinburgh businesses getting involved this year with special events, offers and discounts.

World Vegan Day at Joseph Pearce’s

This Scandinavian bar just off Leith Walk is the perfect place to enjoy a bit of autumnal hygge this November. This World Vegan Day, Joseph Pearce’s (lovingly known as “JP’s” by regular punters) will be offering a delicious special three-course menu.
Fill your belly with cauliflower dippers and herby dipping sauce for starters; gluten-free shepherd’s pie for the main course; and a sweet sticky toffee pear pudding for dessert. YUM!

The Herbivore Kitchen are getting involved in the World Vegan Day spirit with special discounts off some of their most popular dishes.
You can enjoy 2-for-1 pancakes all day, with mouthwatering options such as pumpkin pancakes with Sgaia’s streaky bacon, banana, maple syrup, walnuts and pecans; or beetroot pancakes with caramelised onion, spinach and wild mushroom sauce.
Or, if you are feeling super-indulgent, why not try the Taste of The Herbivore Kitchen platter? Flying the flag for Leith this World Vegan Day is Harmonium Bar and Kitchen, who are offering some of their favourite dishes for only £5.
They are getting ‘Down and Dirty for a £5’ all day and night with a special food and drinks menu. Burgers, pizzas, loaded fries, hard shakes and doughnuts – basically all the good (AKA ‘bad’) stuff!
Gordon will also be doing his pub quiz from 8pm, so it’s shaping up to be a great night for vegans and non-vegans alike!
2 for 1 salads at Hendersons

Hendersons are well known for their delicious vegan and vegetarian salads, and this World Vegan Day their entire salad menu will be vegan, with two scoops for the price of one! Can’t say no to that.
Bread Street Brasserie Vegan Night

Okay, okay, so we’re slightly cheating a bit with this one. Bread Steet Brasseries’s Vegan Night is on the first Wednesday of every month, and by happy coincidence World Vegan Day is also on a Wednesday! But it’s still a great excuse to enjoy a delicious three-course vegan meal for only £17.50 per person.
This month’s menu includes mouth-watering options such as Thai style vegetable spring rolls, portobello mushroom burger, strawberry and banana mousse and so much more. Have a look at their website to find out what other tasty dishes are on offer!
Vegan cheese tasting at NKD Pizza

NKD Pizza need help choosing the vegan cheese to top their new vegan pizzas, so they’re looking to gather a bunch of rag-tag vegans on their Facebook page to weigh in on this very important decision!
The session, which will be at 7pm on World Vegan Day, will involve tasting a variety of vegan cheeses before narrowing it down to the best one. For your chance to get involved, simply comment on this Facebook post and the 10 lucky participants will be notified on the 31st October.
2-for-1 vegan lorne sausages at BBL

This one just in! BBL has just revealed that they will be doing 2 for 1 on their lorne sausage rolls on World Vegan Day. If you haven’t tried one yet – then you need to give it a try! They makes their lorne sausage fresh on site, so you won’t find them anywhere else in Edinburgh.
