Lazy Lettuce’s mission is to provide tasty vegan fast food that’s decent value for money. You may already recognise the name, because the team have already been around for a year providing tempting vegan burgers at many festivals and events around the city.
Given their previous form, I was delighted to hear that now have a regular pop-up residency at The Well Café every Friday and Saturday night. Pop into the café just off Nicolson street and you’ll find the meatiest non-meat burgers around, at a price-point to rival McDonald’s and Burger King.
Vegan food at Lazy Lettuce
The good news is that EVERYTHING at Lazy Lettuce is completely vegan, so feel free to pick whatever you like off the menu! At the time of writing, this is what was on offer:
- Classic “beef” burger Beef-style patty, seeded buns, burger sauce or BBQ sauce, cheez, lettuce, tomato, onion
- “Honey-mustard chicken” burger Chicken-style patty, seeded bun, “honey-mustard” sauce (with agave), cheez, lettuce, onions
- Peanut butter and banana
- Chocolate Oreo
- Skinny potato fries with Lazy Lettuce condiments
If cheap-and-cheerful fast food is what you’re after, then Lazy Lettuce is the place to be. The menu is small but it’s really well priced and perfect for satisfying those junk-food cravings.
Mr B and I popped in one Saturday night and easily wolfed down our burger and fries. The soy milkshakes were also delicious – I particularly enjoyed my peanut butter and banana flavoured one, but be warned – the servings can be a bit on the large side! Still, at less than a tenner each for a decent meal, you really can’t go wrong.
It would be great to see these guys graduate from pop-up to a permanent location very soon. If you’re in the mood for a spot of indulgence, pop into the Well Café treat yourself to a Lazy Lettuce burger. Sometimes it just has to be done!
At the time of writing, Lazy Lettuce is open 6.30pm – 9.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
