Dough has only been on the Edinburgh foodie scene for a year or two, but in that time they’ve really made their mark by making some of the finest pizzas in the city. From their small cosy outlet on Rose Street you can buy whole pizzas for home delivery, or just buy a slice for a quick bite to eat at lunchtime. I used to be a huge fan of this place in my omni days, so I was delighted to discover that they now also cater for vegans.
Vegan food available at Dough
At the moment there is one vegan pizza option at Dough: The Vegan Affair. This consists of their usual crispy pizza base made with flour, yeast and seawater, topped with handmade Italian tomato passata, smoked vegan cheese, roasted aubergine, spiced roast peppers, red onions, roasted pine nuts and fresh rocket.
Whole pizzas are 15 inches in size, which is perfect to share between two.
Dough is a firm favourite with locals and it’s fantastic to see them offering a vegan option. Their base is crispy and salty, but this is balanced perfectly with the lashings of veggie toppings. I’m personally not a huge fan of rocket so I will probably ask for less of that next time, but overall it was a very good pizza with a decent vegan cheese replacement. Hopefully they will add even more vegan choices to their menu soon!
We visited Dough on Rose Street, but they’ve also just opened a branch in Newington at 47 South Clerk Street. Seating is limited, but pizzas are also available to take away and for home delivery.
