Out of all the new vegan openings I’ve seen in Edinburgh this year, this has got to be one of the most hotly anticipated. We all know that the best way to a vegan’s heart is through their stomach and, it seems, the best way to their stomach is via doughnuts.
Considerit have been doing the rounds for quite a few years now, appearing at local markets and vegan festivals with their plant-based doughnuts, chocolate and ice cream. However, they’ve now decided to settle down in a more permanent home on Sciennes and oh my goodness we are so very excited!
Vegan food at Considerit
The good news is that everything served at Considerit is vegan. The bad news is that your diet is likely to take a hit as a result of your visit! At the moment the team are focussing on offering a great range of doughnuts and chocolate, but once they have found their feet at the new premises they will also be serving delicious scoops of dairy-free ice cream – perfect for when the warmer(?) weather comes back in.
When we paid Considerit a visit, these were the flavours of doughnuts that were on offer:
- Cinnamon sugar
- Chocolate hazelnut
- Raspberry and white chocolate
- White chocolate honeycomb
They also proudly serve Steampunk coffee and hot chocolate from real Belgian chocolate.
Yes it’s not exactly the healthiest, but you can’t say that vegans give up the finer things in life after taking a look at these bad boys! These doughnuts are absolutely incredible. Soft, moist, but not too sickly-sweet, this is a perfect mid-afternoon treat. Personally, my favourite flavours are the cinnamon sugar and chocolate hazelnut. Mr B would have one of each in a single sitting if he could.
For vegan doughnut-addicts everywhere, Considerit is a welcome addition to Edinburgh’s foodie scene. You can find them just opposite Summerhall – do pop in and show your support.
