We all love a bit of afternoon tea. With dainty finger sandwiches, light and airy scones and beautiful sweet treats, it’s the perfect way to treat yo’self!

But if you think that you have to miss out on the joy of afternoon tea because of a vegan diet – think again! There are lots of places in Edinburgh that offer a fantastic cruelty-free selection, and Casa Angelina is one of my favourite vegan afternoon teas in the entire city.

Vegan afternoon tea at Casa Angelina

Afternoon tea at Casa Angelina is a truly decadent treat. After you’ve selected your choice of tea (we’re traditional breakfast kind of people), you’ll swiftly be served a plate of fluffy scones and a cake tier simply bursting with vegan delights.

The contents of the afternoon tea offering can vary from day to day, but hopefully this list of goodies that we enjoyed on our last visit will give you an idea of what to expect:

  • Mini bagels with aubergine and beetroot hummus
  • Mini pretzels with pesto, roasted pepper and rocket
  • Vietnamese spring rolls
  • Mini spanakopita (Greek spinach pie)
  • Cherry and orange chocolate cupcakes
  • Lime and passionfruit drizzle cake
  • Spiced chocolate cookies with peanut butter

All the savoury treats were really imaginative and absolutely delicious, especially the mini bagels with aubergine and hummus.

Then onto the sweet stuff – the scones and cakes were all full sized, so while they were absolutely delicious, we eventually had to admit defeat. Lucky, the lovely folks at Casa Angelina gave us doggy bags so we could take our food home and polish it off later!

If you’re looking for an indulgent treat in Edinburgh, then afternoon tea at Casa Angelina would be a fine bet. Their vegan offering is every bit as tempting (if not, more so) as their regular menu, and we can’t wait to return again and munch through even more of their sweet and savoury goodies.
