Mr B very rarely makes suggestions for this site. Even though he’s with me for most of my culinary adventures, I normally just drag him along to wherever is next on my ‘hit list’ and he loyally and silently follows along, waiting patiently as I take a bazillion photos of his food before he is finally allowed to eat.
It surprised me then, when one day he came up to me and said: “Can we go to Bonnie Burrito?”.
Turns out he had popped along a couple of times for his lunch and really enjoyed it. I was a bit taken aback, but I thought I would reward this rare display of proactiveness by giving this wee place in Newington a bit of airplay, so here we are!
Vegan food available at Bonnie Burrito
If you want to go vegan at Bonnie Burrito, select the vegetarian haggis as your filling. All of the extras are vegan, apart from the obvious cheese and sour cream, and all the sauces are vegan too. Sizes vary from regular to large and supersize – if you’re feeling extra hungry!
I ordered the veggie haggis burrito with salsa, guacamole and (on Mr B’s recommendation) the smoky chipotle sauce. For me, it wasn’t the best burrito I have tried in the city, but for Mr B it’s a firm favourite. I think it’s because the sauce has a sweet smoky taste, and Mr B really digs that BBQ flavour. If you have similar tastes, it will probably go down well with you as well.
Plus during our visit, a customer came in with a really cute dachshund dog (as you can see in the pics above!). While I can’t guarantee any four-legged clientele during your visit, it certainly brightened my day!
