Ninja Kitchen is a recent addition to Edinburgh’s foodie scene. In residence at the Bourbon Bar and Lounge, this menu offers up some great Asian fusion food alongside the tasty cocktails that Bourbon has to offer.
The vegan options available at The Ninja Kitchen
The menu labelling was a little unclear, but I was very lucky to catch up with Markus – the concept owner and head chef – who was able to tell me exactly what items on the menu were vegan or otherwise.
At the time of writing, the following options are vegan:
- Thai corn dumplings
- All the slaws (apart from the Siracha slaw)
- Tofu bao bun
- Tofu rice bowl
- The veg soup
- The Korean fried cauliflower
- Edamame beans
- and for pudding – the coconut and lime sorbet (with the deep fried bun, if you’re feeling frisky)
But enough of the boring details – onto the tasty food pictures!
The highlights for me were the chilli and garlic edamame beans, which were incredibly moreish. Also make sure you give the Korean fried cauliflower a go, which packs a punch but you’ll find yourself going back for more. And that pudding – the coconut and lime sorbet – is a creamy alternative to its standard counterparts, with the deep fried bun giving it a decadent edge.
Of course, there’s lots of onmi options available too, so this is a perfect place to gather with your meat-eating friends for some good food and a cocktail or two.
SADLY NINJA KITCHEN CLOSED ON THE 1ST APRIL 2017. MARCUS HAS NOW GONE AWAY TRAVELLING AND WE WISH HIM ALL THE BEST. BRING BACK THAT GORGEOUS FRIED CAULIFLOWER SOON! ❤️
