The Herbivore Supper Club
(Location changes every month!)
Overall score: ★★★★★
Veganism in Scotland’s capital is slowly – but surely – becoming mainstream. It seems to be in the last six months especially the hunger (excuse the pun!) for cruelty-free food is growing, and more businesses in Edinburgh are responding with new innovative ranges, menus and events – one of which I am most excited about is The Herbivore Supper Club.
This monthly event run by All About Patisserie pops up in different venues across Edinburgh – previous settings have included Broughton St Mary’s Parish Church, The Well Café and The Fruitmarket Gallery. Diners all arrive at the same time and everyone is served at once in a communal setting. All are welcome, regardless whether you are vegan, vegetarian or omnivore.
Vegan food at The Herbivore Supper Club
The Herbivore Supper Club offers a set menu for a set price of £35 per person. The meal includes five courses and a cocktail on arrival, but you can also BYOB if you want something else to drink during your meal. The pictures below are from April 2017’s Herbivore Supper Club, but the menu changes every time – so go in with an open mind and get ready to be taken on a culinary adventure!
I really enjoyed the Herbivore Supper Club. While £35 is maybe more than some people are willing to spend on a meal out, I felt it was a good price point for what we had. It encouraged me to try new things – I had no idea what sorrel foam was until I had it on that ravioli! – and it was fun to dine in a setting that I had never experienced before.
The Herbivore Supper Club is going to gain quite I loyal following I think, so go along to one of their next events and find out what everyone is talking about.
The next Herbivore Supper Club is on the 13th May. Click here to book tickets.
