As the name suggests, BURGER. specialises in just that – burgers. While their menu is very much meat based they do have a small vegan offering, as well as the occasional vegan special, so you definitely won’t go hungry here.
Vegan food at BURGER.
While the vegan selection of food at BURGER. isn’t huge, you can still order with confidence as the menu is very clearly labeled. Everything vegan is marked with a (ve) symbol, which is very easy to spot. At the time of writing, the vegan options are:
- Sweet potato falafels (swap out the harissa mayo for another vegan dip)
- Vegan burger Veggie patty of organic tempeh, roast chickpea, beetroot, sweet potato and brown rice. Garnished with chipotle relish, pickled gherkin and beef tomato on a toasted vegan bun
- Plain fries
- Sweet potato fries
- Onion rings
- Smoked chilli ketchup
- Texas BBQ
- Chilli hot sauce
On our recent visit, Mr B and I were able to have their vegan burger accompanied by pretty much every vegan side on the menu! The vegan burger had a nice texture as you would expect, but for me the patty was slightly overpowered by the volume of the bun. Mr B found it just right, though.
For me, the best part of the meal was the onion rings. They were well seasoned and perfectly crisp, without being too greasy. I would quite happily return for a bowl of those bad boys!
It’s great to see one of Edinburgh’s best burger places cater for vegans. Its casual setting means that you can pop along any time, and it’s great for lunch or a laid-back dinner. Head along and give BURGER’s vegan offering some love!
