Barburrito is a chain with locations far and wide across the UK, however it’s a fairly new addition to Edinburgh. As far as I’m aware, this Mexican brand expanded their reach north of the border when they took over all the Pinto restaurants in Scotland, including Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Vegan food available at Barburrito
I love burrito joints, as you’re generally able to find a safe vegan option that is filling and satisfying. As with most Mexican places, the tortillas, rice and beans (you get the choice of black or pinto beans) are all safe for vegans. The vegetarian burrito consists of fried veggies, mushrooms and guacamole. Top off with one of their salsas and you have a completely meat and dairy free wrap of tasty goodness!
The tortilla chips are safe for vegans too, just get them with a salsa dip or guacamole, and you’re good to go.
Whenever I go, I usually get the veggie burrito with a couple of jalapenos and spicy salsa. The quality of Barburrito is pretty consistent, and while there are other (more local) burrito establishments in the city that are just as good if not better, I never begrudge paying this place a visit if I am craving some quick, cheap and satisfying nosh in the West End. Well worth a visit.
I visited the Barburrito branch on Shandwick Place, but also bear in mind there are outlets on Forrest Road and Lothian Road as well – so you are never far away from a decent burrito!
